Malcolm Ses has a serious-mindedness that is missing from all the decadent, hedonistic “party until you drop” rhymes that are so ubiquitous in contemporary hip-hop (especially hip-hop’s Dirty South school). Among them: racism, poverty, life in the projects, unemployment, drugs, crime, teenage pregnancy, incarceration and homelessness.
